Aaron Begue, MS, RN, CNP has been selected to participate in The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Future Leaders Program. The newly launched 12-month program is designed to develop the next generation of nurse practitioner leaders through a variety of initiatives that will provide a broad vision of the nurse practitioner role in the current and future health care environment. Those selected for the program are relatively early in their nurse practitioner careers, serving in clinical, administrative, and education roles, with demonstrated potential to assume increasing national leadership both within AANL and throughout the nation. Begue is currently the Director of Advanced Practice at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. His areas of interest include nursing outcomes for the elderly, multidisciplinary team communication, and advanced practice nursing role development and education. He has presented both nationally and internationally on a number of topics related to advanced practice nursing and geriatric oncology nursing.   He is one of 18 selected for this program. AANP is the largest professional membership organization for nurse practitioners of all specialties. 

“The Color Atlas and Synopsis of Vascular Diseases”, edited by Steve Dean, DO and Bhagwan Satiani, MD, won the “highly commended” award in the field of cardiology from the British Medical Association (BMA). The book is the first book in the Color Atlas Series to be published. The Color Atlas Series is a series of eight books designed to help properly identify and manage vascular diseases involving the arterial, venous and lymphatic system. The books are highly visual, containing lots of demonstrative images with guidance to diagnosis and management. The BMA Medical Book Awards take place annually to recognize outstanding contributions to medical literature. The BMA judging panel awards books for their applicability to audience, production quality and originality.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is among 26 health systems in Ohio, and one of five in Columbus, to earn the 2014 Leaders in LGBT Healthcare Equality status. This honor includes The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James). In order to achieve this status, each hospital had to meet all “Core Four” criteria for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender patient-centered care in the recent release of the Human Rights Campaign Healthcare Equality Index. Only 426 healthcare facilities nationwide earned this distinction. The “Core Four” leader criteria include patient non-discrimination, equal visitation, employment non-discrimination and training in LGBT patient-centered care. The Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) is a resource for healthcare organizations seeking to provide equitable, inclusive care to LGBT Americans—and for LGBT Americans seeking healthcare organizations with a demonstrated commitment to their care.
