PAYNE INDUCTED INTO AMERICAN COLLEGE OF MEDICAL INFORMATICS
Philip Payne, chair, SBS- Biomedical Informatics, will be inducted as a fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics (AMI) at the organization’s reception held at the annual symposium of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) on Nov 17 in Washington, DC. Payne is an expert in the field of biomedical informatics, and received this recognition by his peers for his significant and sustained contributions to the field. The ACMI is a college of elected fellows who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of biomedical informatics. Since it was incorporated in 1984, just over 300 people across the world have been inducted as ACMI fellows. Payne is only the fourth person in the history of OSU to be inducted as an ACMI fellow, and he is one of two OSU faculty members to receive this prestigious recognition. OSU PHYSICIAN ONE OF 2014 WOMEN YOU SHOULD KNOW HONOREES
Susan Koletar, MD, director of the Department of Internal Medicine, was named a 2014 Women You Should Know honoree by Women for Economic and Leadership Development (WELD). Koletar will be honored at WELD’s tenth anniversary celebration of the Women You Should Know calendar on Nov 13 at Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s. Each November, WELD honors 12 women making a positive impact on the economic and leadership development of women in central Ohio by showcasing them and their achievements in a calendar for the upcoming year. The women featured in the calendar are selected based on their extraordinary leadership roles within their respective fields and in community and women’s efforts. TORBEY ELECTED SECRETARY OF NEUROCRITICAL CARE SOCIETY
Michel Torbey, MD, medical director of Ohio State’s Neurovascular Stroke Center, has been elected secretary of the Neurocritical Care Society. This position is a progressive leadership position, meaning that in future years he will serve as treasurer, vice president and president of this organization. In recognition of his exceptional service, academic excellence and leadership in the field of neurocritical care, Torbey is also among 21 physicians worldwide inducted as a Fellow of the Neurocritical Care Society. The Neurocritical Care Society is an international organization composed of health care providers dedicated to improving the care and outcomes of patients with life-threatening neurological illnesses by promoting quality patient care, professional collaboration, research, training and advocacy.
