David Stahl, MD

About Me

I am an intensivist and anesthesiologist with clinical interests in critical care, obstetric anesthesiology and obstetric critical care. I practice as an attending intensivist in the Ross Heart Hospital’s cardiothoracic surgical intensive care unit (ICU), the University Hospital surgical ICU and the James Cancer Hospital’s surgical ICU. I also practice obstetric anesthesiology, and serve as a member of the Columbus Ohio Adult Congenital Heart Disease (COACH) Committee to help manage patients with complex heart disease. I am a member of the Pregnancy Associated Mortality Review (PAMR) Committee for the state of Ohio. I also serve on multiple department and hospital committees, as well as nationally on committees related to critical care, obstetric anesthesiology and medical education at the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). 
 
Since 2016 I have served as the associate program director of the Anesthesiology Residency Program. My interests in medical education are mentoring, improving communication skills and facilitating flourishing (preventing burnout). I am also an instructor of the Longitudinal Group (LG) course in part 1 of the College of Medicine curriculum where I also serve as an expert educator.
 
My research interests focus on medical education, pulmonary physiology and the overlap between obstetrics and critical care.
