About Me

I am a radiation oncologist and Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at The Ohio State University. I was named to the Castle Connolly list of “Regional Top Doctors” from 2014-2023.

I spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy and retired from the Navy Reserve in 2007 at the rank of Captain in the Medical Corps. I believe strongly in the mission of the OSUCCC – James to bring about a cancer-free world through cutting-edge research and delivering highly individualized, caring treatment of all our patients.

Much of my clinical work is in treating genitourinary cancers and gynecologic cancers. I have extensive experience in performing brachytherapy procedures for both men with prostate cancer and women with advanced gynecologic cancers. In addition to my clinical interests, I am very active in several roles working to improve the quality and safety of medical care delivery.

I currently serve on several medical center committees that oversee credentialing and quality and safety measures. Nationally, I am the vice chair of the ASTRO Clinical Affairs and Quality Council and a member of the ASTRO Board of Directors.

I am honored to be able to work at The James and collaborate with our amazing staff and faculty.

If there were a higher grade than a 5, Dr. Douglas Martin would deserve it. I feel so blessed to have him as my doctor.

Everyone I spoke with this day and at all my appointments were outstanding. Were very attentive to questions and concerns I brought up. Listened intently to my questions or comments about how I feel. Condition was pretty well set at this point - discussing how I was doing with potential side effects and offering any help or medication I might desire to mitigate same.

Dr Martin developed a treatment plan that saved my life. He's an excellent physician. And the resident physician in training did a nice job at that appointment. Very caring and detailed.
