About Me

As a maternal-fetal medicine physician, I care for women whose pregnancies are considered high-risk due to a current or prior pregnancy complication, maternal medical condition or fetal condition. One of the aspects I value most about my career is the relationships I form with patients and families during a pregnancy. By listening to my patients and learning about their values and experiences, we develop a care plan that not only promotes the health of the patient and her baby but is individualized to their unique circumstances. Women who come to a high-risk obstetrician for care often feel overwhelmed and worried. I understand the importance of clear and compassionate communication and that’s why I take time with my patients, to ensure that the care that I provide is thorough and that I address the questions and needs of the patient and her family.

Over the years, I’ve gained an appreciation for the role of the physician not only as a clinical provider but also as an educator and scientist. I recognize how my impact on maternal and child health can be amplified by educating others and performing research that leads to improved evidence-based care, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to work at a preeminent academic medical center. At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, my colleagues are similarly committed to providing personalized, exceptional care and addressing the biggest health challenges facing the communities that we serve through innovation and collaboration. My research focuses on labor management and the prevention of preterm birth. In particular, our research team seeks to better understand the relationship between maternal body mass index and labor and obstetric outcomes.

I love the opportunities I have to teach at the Ohio State College of Medicine. One of my roles in medical education is serving as the maternal-fetal medicine fellowship director. I’m also a research and career mentor to multiple residents and medical students. Supporting learners as they master new clinical skills and watching them as they develop into competent and compassionate physicians brings me great joy.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our son. We like to cook, hike, travel and read together. I’m also fortunate to have extended family close by so family dinners and get-togethers are a frequent occurrence!
