About Me
I joined the OSUCCC – James as a breast medical oncologist in 2006 and have since been very active in clinical and translational research in breast cancer. I am a principal investigator for several cooperative group and investigator-initiated studies, and I have authored more than 97 peer-reviewed articles published in scientific journals.
As a member of the Translational Therapeutics Program, my research is focused on investigating the biology of breast tumors at the molecular level to identify characteristics of tumors that are resistant to hormone-based therapeutics, such as tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitors. With this information, researchers can develop alternative therapies to treat hormone-resistant tumors. I am also interested in cancer disparities, particularly the relationship between prolonged breastfeeding and the risk of developing triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).
I am the principal investigator of multiple clinical trials and the recipient of several research grants. I have co-authored many articles in well-respected journals, including Cancer Research, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Breast Cancer Research and Annals of Surgical Oncology.
Additionally, I have been recognized by Forbes as one of the top 27 breast medical oncologists in the nation. I received the Stellar Practitioner for Compassionate Care Recognition from patients and caregivers as an exceptional physician. I was also selected as one of five women at Ohio State who have distinguished themselves as “Medical Center Marvels” and was featured in Health1 magazine.
In addition to treating patients, I serve as section chief of Breast Medical Oncology and as director of the Medical Oncology Fellowship Program in Breast Cancer for The Ohio State College of Medicine.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
