About Me

Geri Hewitt, MD, is a general obstetrician and gynecologist and professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Dr. Hewitt earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society. She did her Ob/Gyn residency at Georgetown University Medical Center, where she served as the administrative chief resident her final year.

After completing residency, Dr. Hewitt returned to Ohio State as a faculty member in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her clinical interests include general obstetrics and gynecology as well as pediatric and adolescent gynecology (PAG). She maintains an adult faculty practice at Stoneridge Obstetrics and Gynecology were she serves as the medical director. Additionally, she is the chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital where she runs a gynecology referral specialty clinic addressing reproductive health needs of patients from birth through age 21 years.

Dr. Hewitt serves as a board examiner in general obstetrics and gynecology for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG.) She is also on the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Writing Committee for ABOG and the PROLOGUE Writing Committee for the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). She is active in the national PAG organization, NASPAG, serving on the Executive Committee since 2010. She is currently serving her first year of a three-year term as the treasurer of NASPAG. Dr. Hewitt is also an editor for the journal JPAG’s “Tips for Clinicians” section. Dr. Hewitt has written numerous articles and book chapters on clinical issues in PAG and has spoken at many national meetings. Dr. Hewitt has served the FDA on committees examining Plan B, and most recently the contraceptive patch and drosperinone-containing oral contraceptives.

Dr. Hewitt’s passions outside of medicine primarily revolve around her family, which includes her husband, two sons, and a large yellow lab. When time allows, she loves being outside, particularly when it involves skiing, hiking, gardening, cycling or water sports. She is also an avid reader and knitter.
