Geri Hewitt, MD, is a general obstetrician and gynecologist and professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Dr. Hewitt earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society. She did her Ob/Gyn residency at Georgetown University Medical Center, where she served as the administrative chief resident her final year.
After completing residency, Dr. Hewitt returned to Ohio State as a faculty member in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her clinical interests include general obstetrics and gynecology as well as pediatric and adolescent gynecology (PAG). She maintains an adult faculty practice at Stoneridge Obstetrics and Gynecology were she serves as the medical director. Additionally, she is the chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital where she runs a gynecology referral specialty clinic addressing reproductive health needs of patients from birth through age 21 years.
Dr. Hewitt serves as a board examiner in general obstetrics and gynecology for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG.) She is also on the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Writing Committee for ABOG and the PROLOGUE Writing Committee for the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). She is active in the national PAG organization, NASPAG, serving on the Executive Committee since 2010. She is currently serving her first year of a three-year term as the treasurer of NASPAG. Dr. Hewitt is also an editor for the journal JPAG’s “Tips for Clinicians” section. Dr. Hewitt has written numerous articles and book chapters on clinical issues in PAG and has spoken at many national meetings. Dr. Hewitt has served the FDA on committees examining Plan B, and most recently the contraceptive patch and drosperinone-containing oral contraceptives.
Dr. Hewitt’s passions outside of medicine primarily revolve around her family, which includes her husband, two sons, and a large yellow lab. When time allows, she loves being outside, particularly when it involves skiing, hiking, gardening, cycling or water sports. She is also an avid reader and knitter.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. Very honest, straightforward, professional, funny
Gerri and Sabrina were both great. Explained things clearly and completely. Gerri was helpful in sharing what would happen in the ultrasound and explained what she would be looking for. Sabrina was great at explaining the process of appointments and what to keep in mind during my pregnancy. They were both great with answering questions and giving me a chance to speak.
She was as EXCELLENT as ever: KIND & HELPFUL in every way, always!
Dr. Hewitt is the reason that even if we were outside the OSU network, we paid cash. For 30 years and three perfect births, her care and compassion has made a real impact on our family. She has been kind and thoughtful about my issues with getting older, menapause and other health issues. It will be a sad day when she retires.

Dr. Hewitt shows AMAZING interest in my overall physical and emotional health. I admire and appreciate her ability to pick up on subtle comments and to ask caring follow-up questions. And her sense of humor and laugh are contagious! A hallmark of her excellent care Is that she communicates EVERYTHING she is about to do before she does it - something I wish all providers would remember to do. I felt extremely important to her during our visit, and I assume that she gives every patient the same undivided and sincere attention. Going in for a routine GYN appointment isn't generally something I look forward to doing, so It's always funny to me that I leave feeling so happy... Even a short conversation with Dr. Hewitt leaves me feeling better about myself than I went in and usually smiling all the way home.

I can't say enough GREAT things about my provider. She was absolutely amazing with her time and care. Going in for a biopsy can be unnerving but I was at ease from the moment she stepped into the room. I understood everything that was happening (why, how, concerns, etc.) because she did such a great job explaining ALL parts.

Excellent. Only improvement would be referral resources for mental health. Provider acknowledged benefit of seeking these services (e.g. Counseling for mental health), but they are incredibly difficult to access. Many providers do not accept new patients, etc. So referring a patient to a particular curated list of providers that accept new patients and the insurances they work with would be beneficial v. The service in general.
Very friendly and easy to talk too
Dr Hewitt is consistently caring, attentive, knowledgable - every positive adjective you could think of. Always answers any and all questions, never makes you feel stupid for asking.
