Our warm-water pool offers low-impact exercise.
Ohio State’s Center for Wellness and Prevention, located at the Morehouse Medical Plaza, offers warm-water pool classes to support your weight loss and weight management journey.
Four levels of warm-water classes are designed to help reduce pain and increase functionality for individuals with musculoskeletal problems, obesity and other physical ailments. Classes are held in a pool with water temperature ranging from 90-92.8 degrees and a 3-1/2- to 5-foot depth. Wide stairs with handrails are available for pool entrance/exit. You must be able to enter and exit the pool on your own, as one-on-one water instruction or assistance is not provided.
Note: A physician’s referral is necessary to join the warm-water pool program.
Warm-Water Pool Classes
Level 1 Water Movement is for individuals with arthritis, musculoskeletal, obesity or other physical problems who want to keep the body moving at a slow pace. The focus is on stretching and learning to relax. The 45-minute class concentrates on total-body, joint-movement and range-of-motion exercises choreographed with soft music selections. Ai-Chi exercises are incorporated and help participants practice breathing techniques. All instructors are trained and certified through the Arthritis Foundation and are CPR-certified and trained in water rescue.
