I am 46 years old, and I decided to be a living kidney donor because essentially my brother was dying without a kidney. The process was very simple. I live in Arizona. The process started by doing routine tests in Arizona, and then we set up a date that I could travel to Columbus, met with the doctors, the surgeons, and then waited for approval. Following that approval, we then set a date for the surgery. It was pretty simple, all things told. Now that I've donated, it's as if nothing has changed internally. There's no pain where the kidney was removed. For all intents and purposes, it's been a great process overall.
