The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center What is Ohio State Genomic Health Andrew Thomas, MD: Ohio State genomic Health is a population based research study looking at genetic variation across the population and which diseases may be driven by that genetic variation. We partner with a company called Helix to help us understand which diseases you may or may not be at risk for. Each patient that participates in Ohio State Genomic Health will get back three clinical test results in their electronic medical record chart. Those are tests that relate to hereditary syndromes for breast and ovarian cancer, often described as BRCA one and two, a test for what's called Lynch syndrome, which is a familial inherited version of colon cancer or familial hypercholesterolemia. That is, for people who develop heart disease, often in their 30s or 40s. Text on screen: - BRCA 1 &2 - Lynch Syndrome - Familial hypercholesterolemia Over the first four years of signing up individuals, our goal is to reach 100,000.
