[Text on screen: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center How do athletes' diets vary by sport?] [Music playing] [Text on screen: Sarah Wick, RD, CSSD Registered Sports Dietitian Ohio State Wexner Medical Center] Sarah Wick, RD, CSSD: So when we're looking at different types of exercise, the nutrient timing doesn't necessarily change between an endurance sport and a power sport, such as your basketball, your lacrosse, as compared to somebody who's running a long distance. [Music fades] The nutrient timing doesn't change a whole lot. However, some of the nutrients that you take in may change, like your protein may be increased a little bit throughout the day if you're a power sport, [Music playing] as compared to your runner, might need more glycogen or energy or carbohydrates to make sure they can get through a longer run.
