We believe that part of what makes us special is the tripartite mission. So first and foremost, we care about patient care. We want to make sure that patients receive exquisite care along any part of their journey with a serious illness. At the same time, we know that we always have more to learn, and so we focus on research to make sure we're bringing cutting edge symptom management, ways to have conversations, ways to create new models of care so that we're always pushing the envelope in the kinds of care that patients and families receive. And finally, we want to make sure that we are training the next generation of clinicians, researchers, and educators so that every patient across the state of Ohio can get high quality palliative care. One element that I hope people recognize about the palliative care program here at Ohio State is that we are a very committed, dedicated, compassionate team who want to ensure that every patient who has palliative care needs can get the services that they require. Our goal is to expand our services so that more patients have more access. Our goal is to make sure that every patient feels heard and understood and has a care plan that's really aligned with who they are and what they care about. We are a large group of interdisciplinary team members who are seeing patients in multiple ambulatory clinics and across multiple hospitals. And we feel very lucky that we have amazing support from our hospital system to continue to grow and to ensure that even with our size, where we still make sure we focus on each individual patient, their families, their loved ones, their caregivers, to help them navigate what we know is an incredibly difficult journey when you're facing serious illness, and if we can just make it that little bit easier, we feel like we've done our job.
