James Borchers, MD: Osteoarthritis can follow a varying course of progression. Sometimes it stays very stable and even over a lifetime may stay stable. But unfortunately, oftentimes osteoarthritis does progress with activity and with age. And so certainly as we get older, osteoarthritis may get worse and cause more symptoms.
