Sometimes those things can lead up to a doctor's visit where you can talk about that with your doctor and they might test you for diabetes. That happens more often with Type 2 diabetes. With Type 1 diabetes, the same symptoms can happen, but sometimes that can lead to DKA, or diabetic ketoacidosis, which is a life-threatening hospitalization occurrence. You don't have to have all of the symptoms that accompany diabetes, but certain ones definitely stand out as red flags. So sudden increased urination, especially as well as sudden unexplained weight loss, like you weren't trying to lose weight and all of a sudden you are losing weight, or you're having to go to the bathroom a lot more often than you're used to. Those are big signs that it might be a good time to bring it up to your doctor. [Text on screen: Ohio State Health & Discovery For more information, visit: go.osu.edu/diabetes-education] [Music fades]
