[Text on screen: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center What are some misconceptions about midwives?] [Music playing] [Text on screen: Lily Zimmermann, APRN-CNM Certified Nurse Midwife Ohio State Wexner Medical Center] Lily Zimmermann, APRN-CNM: I think a big misconception of midwives that's kind of twofold. One, I believe that many women and partners feel that we only focus on birth and obstetrical care, which is a big portion of what we do, but certainly not the identity of all of our abilities or services and our care as midwives. The second component to that answer is we do not deliver at home. So all of the births that I attend and that my partners attend are in the hospital. And while there are different midwives who do home births and home deliveries and that can be very safe in that care, we don't offer that service or backup for that service. And so when women come to me, we're very clear about the care that we provide.
