Lily Zimmermann, APRN-CNM: Choosing midwifery at Ohio State is multi-dimensional. You would come to Ohio State midwives for our expertise, our opportunities in birthing options at the main hospital, and for holistic patient-centered care. Here at Ohio State as a certified nurse midwife, I have my own patients whom I take care of.

So I see patients for their annual exams ongoing every year, and I see women who are pregnant, I see postpartum patients, and I also deliver my own patients at the Ohio State University. This is unique to Ohio State in that I have autonomy over that group of women.

Whereas in other institutions, a lot of advanced practice providers do not have their own patient list or autonomy over those women.
