David McQuaid brings with him more than 30 years of health care administration experience at leading academic health systems, including Johns Hopkins, Duke and Thomas Jefferson University.

David has a strong background in operations and finance, clinical program growth, strategic planning and continuous process improvement. Throughout his career, he has focused on putting the patient first and is regarded by his peers as a strong patient advocate.

His role in Ohio State’s health system includes overseeing six hospitals and the primary care and ambulatory networks. As chief operating officer of Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, a nearly $4-billion academic health center, he focuses on business development, clinical operations and fiscal accountability.

Known for close collaboration with physician leadership and faculty, he is passionate about academic health care and driven to not only improve the health and well-being of populations, but to improve health care through research and education.

David is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and was appointed by the U.S. Department of Commerce in 2009 to serve as an examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

A pharmacist by training, David earned his bachelor’s degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and an MBA from the University of New Hampshire. He serves on a number non-profit, business and professional association boards.
