Letting them know I care makes all the difference
Tiffany Johnson, BSN, RN, patient care resource manager
When Patient Care Resource Manager Tiffany Johnson, BSN, RN, worked in surgery, her curiosity often had her wondering what happened after a patient left the operating room. That curiosity sparked her decision to seek out a position that allows her to answer the question, What happens next?
“I quickly found my passion for making a difference in the lives of the people I have the privilege of getting to know during their journey with us,” Tiffany says. “Finding little things to brighten their day, like a welcome gift, sharing an encouraging story to make them smile or just letting them know I care, makes all the difference.”
Tiffany, an energetic, passionate cancer survivor, understands the power of appreciation in the little things – caring words, giving back and spreading kindness are all critical to her – and she strives every day to continue shining the light that was given to her during her care.
“The opportunity to make a difference in the care patients receive inspires me to go above and beyond to seek creative ways to improve their experience, whether by getting them in to see a specialist sooner than they expected or sending a card to apologize because the wait was longer than we anticipated during their visit,” she says.
She finds pride in educating her patients and every time she receives an email, phone call or message from a patient or family member telling her she touched their life.
“The relationships we build and the impacts on people we help are priceless,” she says. “I’m forever thankful for all my patients and families who allow me to serve them.”
