Nurse Practitioner (Job Opening 430506) - Scope of Position The Ohio State University Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive. The Nurse Practitioner functions as an integral member of the perioperative care team within the Department of Perioperative Services, whose members reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team consisting of the Patient Care Coordinator-Registered Nurse (PCC-RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA), Student Nursing Assistant (SNA), Administrative Assistant (AA), Information Associate (IA), and Student Intern, provides patient care and supportive services that are directed toward achievement of quality patient care outcomes, improvement of service levels, reduction of length of hospitalization and reduction of costs. Position Summary The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for review of the patient?s electronic medical record, validating current History/Physicals, and ordering appropriate testing and medications based on patients? need. The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with physicians, anesthesiologists, and other mid level providers to make sure patients are optimized for surgery. The NP ensures adherence to SCIP measures. The NP provides education to patients and their families.

Education and experience

Masters degree in Nursing, Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, licensed and holds Certificate of Authority to practice in State of Ohio; experience in perioperative services preferred.
