Position summary

Med Lab Tech-Testing (Job Opening 444772) - SCOPE OF POSITION The Critical Care, Outpatient, Customer Service, and Outreach Laboratories encompass specimen collection, processing and testing services within the Department of Clinical Laboratories. The critical care laboratories and Central Processing Areas are staffed 24 hours per day, Sunday through Saturday. The outpatient and outreach laboratories are staffed between the hours of 8:00 am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday depending on the location and adopted hours of operation. Hospital Customer Service is staffed 7:00 am to 8:30 pm Monday through Friday. POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for shift operations of the Customer Service Area and provides leadership within the area. This med. tech. answers all Customer Service calls coming into the lab and releases information within the HIPAA guidelines. This tech. communicates with outside reference labs regarding patient testing, enters patient results into the lab computer system and preserves test records per CAP/CLIA/JCAHO regulations. Maintains procedure manual for Central Processing Area, Customer Service Area and Clinic Lab, along with procedure writing and implementation. This tech. also participates in quality control, continuous quality improvement, inventory control, professional development and continuing education within the area. Works weekends and/or holidays as operational necessity dictates per manager-approved weekend/holiday rotation schedule.

Education and experience

Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or biological science with MLT certification. Applicant must obtain MLT certification within 6 months of hire.
