Vascular Technologist (Job Opening 448355) - SCOPE OF POSITION
Neurodiagnostic services encompass all technical functions with the Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), Evoked Potential (EP), Transcranial Dopplers (TCD), and Intraoperative Monitoring areas. The laboratories are diagnostic areas of the Department of Neurology for patients with suspected neurologic injury and/or disease. The EMU is the in-patient diagnostic area for patients with suspected epilepsy. The EEG laboratory is staffed Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with 24 hour, 7 day per week on-call service. The EMG laboratory is staffed Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EMU is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The TCD services are staffed 7 days per week 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Vascular Technologist performs transcranial Doppler studies and vascular procedures (both imaging and non-imaging) for the diagnosis of heart and vessel abnormalities. In addition, the position provides patient education and performs quality assessment activities for the division, under the direction of the Manager. When the Transcranial Doppler studies are not being performed, the Technologist will train and assist in the Neurodiagnostic lab which encompasses EEG, EMU, EMG, IOM and Evoked Potentials.
Education and experience
ARDMS or A.R.R. T. Sonography registered. Individual must have completed or is required to complete sonographic certification in at least one relevant area of specialty (General, Abdomen, Cardiac (Echo), Vascular, Breast, Fetal, Pediatric, Pelvic, Small Parts and OB/GYN) within 18 months of hire date. Previous peripheral vascular sonography experience is preferred.
