Position summary

Acupuncturist (Job Opening 452553) - The contingent Acupuncturist is responsible for providing licensed acupuncture services including examination, evaluation and treatment of patients within the patient services center in a prompt, courteous and professional manner; documenting such services accurately in the electronic health record; responding promptly to patient messages; collaborating with other clinicians and trainees at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center; participating in the Center's Journal club; participating in monthly clinician meetings and staff meetings; representing OSUWMC by providing professional talks and presentations regionally and nationally; precepting medical students, residents, and other trainees working in the clinic; teaching, as needed, in professional training programs under the direction of the Medical Director; advising on policies and procedures related to acupuncture, acupressure, and similar therapies; working with OSUWMC development to build relationships with potential benefactors to the Center; and participating in community engagement activities within and outside OSUWMC.

Education and experience

For Hire: Board certification as a licensed acupuncturist or oriental medicine practitioner or Traditional Chinese medicine practitioner; or equivalent combination of experience and training in an acupuncture medical specialty; State of Ohio licensure required. At least five years' experience in patient care. Three academic years of education at the master's degree level in an acupuncture program accredited by the Accredidation Commisson for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM). Maintaining positive morale and two references required.  Ongoing:  Maintains licensure and CME credits.  Demonstrates competence to meet essential job functions.  Maintains knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement, cost reduction, and current policies/procedures/protocols.
