Position summary

Clinical Laboratory Manager (Job Opening 453608) - Scope of Position The Clinical Laboratory Manager is responsible for the monitoring and coordination of the point-of-care testing program for all of the Clinical Laboratories and other laboratory testing locations throughout the OSU Health System. The manager must work with various medical staff to follow clinical laboratory testing regulations. This person also works with laboratory Director of Compliance for oversight of CLIA laboratories throughout the University and the OSU Health System. The manager works with the Laboratory Director of Compliance to maintain the QPulse document control software for use in all clinical laboratories and point of care testing. Position Summary This position is responsible for all aspects of the point-of-care testing for the clinical labs. This position must collaborate with staff to ensure proper documentation of education, training and competency assessment throughout the medical center, including nursing, radiology, perfusion, and operating room, respiratory and other locations performing laboratory testing. The laboratory point of care manager, with the coordinators, also helps train Laboratory and other professional staff about proper usage of instruments, monitors Proficiency Testing surveys at the point-of-care sites, collects quality control results, analyzes the results, reports and documents corrective action, and prepares reports for administration and Division Directors. The position will also be responsible for monitoring other CLIA laboratories throughout the University and the OSU Health System. This will include educating staff on laboratory regulations, monitoring documentation for training and competency assessment, providing resources on laboratory testing, performing inspections, maintaining a comprehensive list of laboratories and testing provided, and serving as a resource for CLIA laboratories.

Education and experience

Bachelor's degree in medical technology or biologic science required with Medical Technology certification and 5 years of clinical laboratory experience. Experience with point of care testing and knowledge of CAP and CLIA regulations. Previous supervisory / management experience highly desirable.
