Medical Assistant (Job Opening 435585) - SCOPE OF POSITION

Under direct supervision, assists physician, nurses, and/or other clinical staff in direct and indirect patient care activities and services. Responsible for clinical duties such as taking vital signs, giving injections, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, and maintaining examination rooms at an acute or ambulatory care site. This position is also responsible to ensure that clinics are prepared and flowing efficiently. This includes the preparation of charts, pulling of eResults reports and dictation, and exam room management. Responsible for maintaining supply inventory in exam rooms along with ordering and unpacking all medical supplies. May be asked to provide medical records support as well as perform scheduling/billing activities.

Education and experience

High school diploma. Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program required. Medical Assistant certification preferred. Current American Heart Association BCLS certification preferred. Phlebotomy, lab and EKG experience preferred. Experience in an acute or ambulatory care environment preferred. Experience with procedural assisting desired. Experience with electronic medical records and scheduling systems preferred.
