Position summary

Psych Emergency Clinician (Job Opening 439195) - SCOPE OF POSITION Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University Medical Center and OSU Harding Hospital are committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive. The Psychiatric Emergency Clinician functions primarily in an inpatient setting but will work in the outpatient setting as well to provide evaluation and assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, psycho education, individual counseling, case management and crisis intervention. The Treatment Team reflects a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The psychiatric counselor functions within the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team to provide patient care and supportive services that are directed at achievement of patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient?s involvement in his/her own care plan, improving service levels and decreasing costs. Patients and their family will experience the benefits of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all treatment team members. POSITION SUMMARY The position will serve to provide clinical assessment, care coordination, brief intervention, crisis management, and liaison/administrative support for patients with complex medical and psychiatric illness admitted to the medical/surgical units of OSU Wexner Medical Center. As a member of a multidisciplinary team in an academic teaching environment, exceptional interpersonal skills, clinical judgment, knowledge of resources, and a strong ability for problem solving in crisis or conflict situations are necessary. This position requires excellent clinical and organizational skills, the ability to triage medically/psychiatrically complex cases, and flexibly interact with families, hospital and medical staff, students, and a wide range of external contacts. Licensed independent social workers, counselors, or those with equivalent behavioral health training are required; previous experience in mental health and medical social work is preferred. Education and experience

Masters Degree in mental health discipline or equivalent of education and experience required. A current Ohio professional licensure required (LSW, LISW, LISW-S, or LPCC). Experience in crisis intervention and inpatient psychiatric care is desired. LISW preferred on inpatient care area.
