Psychiatric Counselor (Job Opening 440255) - SCOPE OF POSITION

Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University Medical Center and OSU Harding Hospital are committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive. The Psychiatric Counselor functions in an outpatient setting providing evaluation and assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, group therapy, psycho education, individual counseling, case management and crisis intervention. The Treatment Team reflects a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The psychiatric counselor functions within the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team to provide patient care and supportive services that are directed at achievement of patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient?s involvement in his/her own care plan, improving service levels and decreasing costs. Patients and their family will experience the benefits of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all treatment team members. Services provided include an Adult Partial Hospitalization Program for psychiatric patients.

POSITION SUMMARY
Clinical and education position, including, but not limited to: Clinical work with patients with general mental health diagnoses:  individual therapy, education and therapy groups, and couple/family therapy to assist patients to determine treatment goals, return to previous or improved functioning; form aftercare plan; advocate within local community if needed; work as part of clinical team; maintain third party payer relationships.  Education/training group leader with general mental health patient population and on occasion, with training, with patients with dual diagnosis (mental health and substance abuse).

Education and experience

Master?s Degree in Social Work or Counseling; Ohio License to practice (LSW or LPC); independent license preferred (LISW or LPCC).
