Supervisor - Surgical Tech (Job Opening 442935) - Scope of Position The Supervisor of Surgical Technologists functions as an integral member of a team of care providers in the Operating Rooms of the Perioperative Services at the OSU Medical Center. The Supervisor of Surgical Technologists is responsible for the organization, direction, support and safe patient care delivery for the Perioperative care team within the department of the Perioperative Services on a 24 hour basis. The surgical teams reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm and mutual respect. The team, consisting of the Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, Patient Care Coordinator a?? Registered Nurse (PCC-RN), Surgical Technologist (ST) Student Surg Tech (SST), Perioperative Technician, Anesthesia Technician and Office Assistants, provide patient care and supportive services that are directed towards achievement of maximizing patient care outcomes, improving customer service levels, reducing the length of hospitalization and decreasing costs. Patients and their family will experience the benefits of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members. Position Summary The Supervisor of Surgical Technologists works under the direction of the Manager of the operating room to facilitate service line support and daily operations. The Supervisor of Surgical Technologists is responsible for educating, coaching, and evaluating the work performance of the Surgical Technologists along with the Surgical Technologist Manager. The Supervisor of Surgical Technologist may occasionally be assigned to perform the scrub role in various surgical procedures and also to perform routine unit tasks. Education and experience

Minimum Qualifications  For Hire: Associate's degree is a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and 2-3 years of related work experience is required. Must have completed formal Surgical Technology Training Program. CST Certification is required.   On going: Demonstrates competency to meet essential job functions.  Maintains knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures, and protocols.  Meets mandatory educational and health requirements.
