Position summary

Director,Office of Curriculum (Job Opening 448973) - The Director of the Office of Curriculum and Scholarship (OCS) is responsible for leading a team of highly skilled instructional and curriculum designers, educational researchers, and evaluation specialists to support the tactical and strategic goals of the Education Mission for the College of Medicine (COM). The Director oversees utilization of the services OCS provides in the following areas: Program Evaluation, Health Professionals Education Research, Educational Technology, Curriculum/Instructional Design, Faculty Development, and Strategic Project Management. Included in the Director's personnel oversight are five Doctoral and Masters level direct reports, including the Associate Director of Educational Technology for OCS.  The Director engages with faculty stakeholders and COM educational leadership to address curricular, programmatic, educational analytic and scholarly needs. Additionally, the Director takes an active and collaborative role alongside Education Resource Specialists to conduct program evaluation and faculty-led educational research projects. OCS contributions to these areas under the guidance of the Director are part of the broader mission of OCS to use data driven decision making to inform actionable insights and generalizable knowledge in teaching, learning, and assessment of health professions education. The educational technology sector of OCS includes instructional design services and the Office of Mobile Services. Instructional design services include assisting faculty and staff with designing and developing instructional content including videos, interactive e-learning modules, infographics, and printable resources. The Office of Mobile Services is responsible for implementation of iPad technology, lecture capture, access to the Epic medical record, and a host of other related technologies and services as they relate to the medical student curriculum.

Education and experience

Doctoral degree in education, preferably related to health sciences education; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered; knowledge of curriculum, evaluation, and assessment are required; extensive experience in curriculum, evaluation, and assessment, including the use of data analytics strongly preferred; considerable leadership experience in education desired; significant experience in managing large complex projects/initiatives that involve high risk and great impact on the university desired; extensive experience interacting with educational leadership and health science faculty to gather and understand their instructional, programmatic, and scholarly needs desired; strong project and process management skills desired; demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with others at all levels inside an academic unit, with outher academic units and outside partners. Requires successfull completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
