Position summary

Student Counselor (Job Opening 455922) - Functions as a counselor who will provide individual and group counseling on personal and psycho-social issues being experienced by students in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (HRS) and in the College of Medicine (COM); diagnoses and evaluates extent and character of student psycho-social issues for undergraduate and graduate students in HRS and the COM; interviews and assesses students' functioning to develop appropriate plan of care; collaborates with other mental health care providers in development and implementation of services and treatments; makes referrals to other service providers in the Medical Center, University and within the community; develops and implements outreach program and materials to market and communicate services to students; participates in student curriculum on developing interviewing skills and discussing psycho-social issues as they impact patient care and consideration of ethical dilemmas; develops network of referral services and providers; documents and maintains data on student demographics, performance and counseling activities; develops program activity and statistical reports; develops and conducts research projects, surveys and appropriate programming to promote optimal student performance; serves as member of team of professionals providing services in Academic Affairs.

Education and experience

Considerable clinical /counseling experience require, counseling young adults required; current State of Ohio licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Social Worker; computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint desired
