Sr Dir-Research Compliance (Job Opening 458589) - Functions as Senior Director of Research Compliance and Operations for the College of Medicine and Office of Health Sciences (COM/OHS) in collaboration with The Ohio State University (OSU) and OSU Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC); provides leadership, plans, directs, implements, coordinates and enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of all basic science and clinical research compliance programs of COM/OHS; oversees the day-to to-day operations of the compliance unit, comprised of research compliance staff, ensuring quality standards are met; establishes and implements short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; provides advice and consultation to ensure that potential issues of noncompliance and/or conflicts of interest are properly evaluated, investigated and resolved in a timely manner; continuously monitors and reviews regulations, policies, ethical guidance and requirements related to the conduct of human subject research; develops and implements controls designed to ensure compliance with regulations, policies and procedures; advises leadership on the implications of proposed and existing regulations, policies, and practices governing research compliance; works collaboratively with leadership in the development or restructure of compliance programs; directs the design and delivery of education/training in various formats on topics related to research and various areas of research compliance; directs program to educate and oversee foreign engagement for investigators, staff, and trainees; develops and manages compliance effectiveness tracking and reporting; facilitates collaborations with other offices and entities across the University; participates and represents compliance in key meetings and/or committees; manages potential relationships of faculty with legal and compliance offices related to the Technology Commercialization Office and companies.
Education and experience
Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience required; PhD or advanced degree preferred; extensive senior level experience managing research operations to include experience in regulatory and compliance required; considerable knowledge of FDA, HHS, Ohio Ethics Law and DHHS regulations, Good Clinical Practices, HIPPA, & NIH guidelines for human subject research required; certification from Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) or Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check; selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
