Supervisor-Surgical Tech IP (Job Opening 460207) - SCOPE OF POSITION The Supervisor of Surgical Technologists functions as an integral member of a team of care providers in the Operating Rooms of the Perioperative Services at the OSU Medical Center. The Supervisor of Surgical Technologists is responsible for the organization, direction, support and safe patient care delivery for the Perioperative care team within the department of the Perioperative Services on a 24 hour basis. The surgical teams reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm and mutual respect. The team, consisting of the Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, Patient Care Coordinator ? Registered Nurse (PCC-RN), Surgical Technologist (ST) Student Surg Tech (SST), Perioperative Technician, Anesthesia Technician and Office Assistants, provide patient care and supportive services that are directed towards achievement of maximizing patient care outcomes, improving customer service levels, reducing the length of hospitalization and decreasing costs. Patients and their family will experience the benefits of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members. POSITION SUMMARY The Supervisor of Surgical Technologists works under the direction of the Director/Manager of the operating room. Assists the manager in the throughput operation of the surgical technologist group and oversees human resource activities. The supervisor assists with developing and implementing performance initiatives to ensure optimal patient outcomes and patient satisfaction. Responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination, direction, and implementation / modification of existing clinical programs of these services as they relate to the Medical Center. Position is a first-level supervisor and has direct responsibility for people management. Education and experience

Associate's degree is a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and 2-3 years of related work experience is required. Must have completed formal Surgical Technology Training Program. CST Certification is required.
