Position summary

Senior Grants & Contract Acct (Job Opening 436774) - Senior Grants & Contracts Accountant position in the College of Medicine's Grants Management Office to oversee and manage post-award activities; manages and administers assigned sponsored programs and/or principal investigators (PIs) with minimal direction; controls and oversees fiscal management of extramural research grants; plans, manages and supervises post-award activities for assigned departments; provides strategic leadership, direction and expertise in post award reporting; analyzes and reconciles project fiscal reports identifying and resolving discrepancies and distributes monthly project financial reports; reviews and approves expenses for allowability as stipulated by sponsor guidelines; reviews grant awards to new award setup in in accordance contract guidelines; ensures grant personnel are appointed in a timely manner and oversees personnel appointment for the life of the grant; advises and collaborates with PIs with effort certification and personnel transfer approval; interprets and ensures spending in compliance with sponsor, University and third party regulations and policies; determines and processes journal entries as needed; performs budget forecasts to help PIs with planning; prepares projects for closeout; identifies project overruns and alerts principal investigator and department leadership; participates with training of new PIs and their staff;

Education and experience

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 3 years of financial management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required; Master's degree desired; experience with grants or contracts management required, preferably at a public institution; experience in research administration with knowledge of federal or private agency sponsors fiscal requirements & contract/grant regulations preferred; experience with electronic research administration tools and systems preferred; knowledge of OSU Office of Sponsored Programs policies & procedures preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
