Director-Hospital Dietetics (Job Opening 440042) - Scope of Position
Nutrition Services (NS) administers quality nutritional care and food service operations for patients, staff, students and visitors in Wexner Medical Center facilities, campus and the communities we serve. NS coordinates activities to enhance patient, staff and customer satisfaction. NS is responsible for nutrition care, food service and retail food operations for multiple locations including University, Ross Heart, Harding, East, and Brain and Spine Hospitals, and James Cancer Hospital and Critical Care Research Tower (CCRT). Clinical nutrition services are also provided in more than 25 ambulatory separate clinic locations. Main campus cafes include BistrOH! and BistrOH! to go, Bloch Cafe in CCCT, and the Brain and Spine Hospital cafe. Another full service cafe, BistrOH! operates at UHE and there are BistrOH! to go locations at Eye and Ear Institute, Martha Morehouse Medical Plaza (2), Ackerman Road complex, Care Point East and Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center. NS oversight to 5 subcontracted retail foodservice locations and vending. NS also conducts and coordinates many outreach programs and several community gardens to deliver nutrition and food programming.

The director assumes responsibility for determining the vision and direction for responsible areas, determining the strategic and operational plans to support the vision of the Medical Center, operationalizing evaluating and or revising the plans as needed.

Position Summary Develops a cohesive management team and employee groups that have strategic focus, meets customer, patient and staff expectations for food and clinical nutrition services, and operates within the business objectives of medical center. With team, develops strategic vision/goals for department and collaborates with hospital/or medical center area administrations to implement programs or facilities for patients and staff that meet the needs of the individual hospitals. Assures that the operations are well managed, employee performance is evaluated and is consistent with medical center guidelines, and develops programs to ensure customer/patient satisfaction and positive outcomes. Has sound financial understanding of healthcare food and nutrition services and establishes financial budget with appropriate business units and assures that department meets financial targets for staffing, supplies and revenue. The Director serves as a leader and mentor for the department, medical center, university and profession.

Education and experience

Qualifications for Hire: Registered Dietitian, Ohio license. Serve Safe certified. Minimum of 5 years clinical/food/business management, 10 years preferred. Bachelor of Science degree required and Masters Degree preferred in a health care related field. Previous administrative experience in relevant care setting preferred. Must pass physical exam.
