Position summary

Director of Program Grants Dev (Job Opening 441647) - Director of Program Grant/Research Development will formalize and centralize the process for large programmatic grants development as well as internal/external review, coordinated with CCC (Comprehensive Cancer Center) programs existing mechanisms; provides significant support and education for CCC members to enhance the level of grantsmanship; mentors CCC members in scientific grant writing; stewards the process for getting faculty funded; trains, mentors and supervises staff members who will support faculty in grant writing; provides management and support related to researching, writing and editing of PPG, SPORE, Phase I, Phase II grants, core grant, and other large institutional grants including submission and internal/external review to promote interprogrammatic/interdisciplinary research within the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center; attends and actively participates in Program Leader meetings; attends other meetings as needed to generate ideas for PPG and other grants (e.g., Annual Scientific, bi-monthly member reception, etc., national meetings of granting organizations); establishes Grant Repository (centralized repository of grant information for use by CCC members in developing grants); works closely with cancer center investigators, Program Leaders and the senior leadership of the OSUCCC on strategic issues related to program grants and research development; serves as liaison to grant funding agencies.

Education and experience

A PhD in a scientific or related field of cancer research is preferred; considerable demonstrated success in a progressively responsible management capacity including direct supervising experience and writing & submitting grants; strategic or long-range planning experience; extensive experience working in a scientific/medical/academic setting strongly preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
