Position summary

Assistant to Department Chair (Job Opening 453954) - Functions as Assistant to the Chair in the Department of Otolaryngology and the Medical Director of Development for the James Cancer Hospital and CCC; oversees and coordinates daily operations of office in support of research, education and clinical missions; coordinates and oversees appointment calendars including scheduling meetings with medical center leadership and area business leaders and serves as liaison with other leadership offices; prioritizes continually changing demands and schedules on their behalf; coordinates and oversees faculty recruitment; collaborates in the development and implementation of administrative, operational and clinical policies and procedures; acts on behalf of Chair in their absence; serves as liaison to Department Chair and administrator; independently responds to routine correspondence and electronic communications and conveys directives and information; prepares highly sensitive and confidential correspondence and communication; prepares meeting materials to be presented to medical center leadership, business leaders throughout Columbus and at national and international meetings; supports department involvement in multi-institutional study with academic institutions and travels out of state to represent Chair; coordinates special events, projects, and meetings; researches, interprets, and communicates departmental, college and university policies and procedures to aid in decision making and strategic planning; assists faculty in preparing grant applications and writing manuscripts and publications; arranges and schedules travel, lodging and other associated reservations; prepares and tracks reimbursement of travel expenses;

Education and experience

6 months experience (600 hours course work or training) in customer service or communications, including researching, analyzing and interpreting information; 3 months experience (300 hours course work) in budgeting. Requires successful completion of a background check.
