Position summary

Cook 1 (Job Opening 456988) - Scope of Position: Nutrition Services administers quality nutritional care and food service operations for patients, staff and visitors in Wexner Medical Center facilities, campus and the communities we serve. The Department coordinates activities to enhance patient, staff and customer satisfaction. The Department is responsible for nutrition care and food service and retail food operations for patients, staff and visitors to the various locations including University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, Brain and Spine Hospital, James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, University Hospital East, and OSU Harding. Position Summary: This position is responsible for cooking and cold food production for patients and retail cafes. Cooks use batch cooking techniques; follow safe food handling and storage to ensure that our customers and patients receive high quality foods. Some positions require front of the house service production in front of guests. Staff may also serve food, set up and tear down food service stations, transport supplies, food, dishes, pots, pans and utensils for their use. Staff are also responsible for cleaning and sanitation of equipment, carts and work area. Serve a key role supporting Nutrition Services patient, retail cafe and catering areas making sure patients, staff, visitors and customers? needs are met.

Education and experience

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and to read and write common vocabulary plus; 300 hours training in use of kitchen equipment (or 3 mos. exp.); 300 hours training in large quantity cooking (or 3 mos. exp.); 100 hours training in safe food handling practices & storage (or 1 mos. exp.); or equivalent. Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen and background check.
