Position summary

Nurse Practitioner - Rotation (Job Opening 439036) - Scope of Position: The Nurse Practitioner will provide health care services to patients with neurological disorders within the parameters of a standard care agreement with an attending physician member of The Ohio State University Medical Center (OSUMC); practices within the scope of advanced practice nursing license; provides acute neurovascular and neurosurgical medical care across the continuum of a Level I Trauma Center; serves as a clinical expert in consultation, education, research, collaboration and leadership of the neurosurgical and neurovascular patient population.

Position Summary: The Nurse Practitioner provides direct and indirect health care services to adult patients presenting with cerebrovascular accidents of ischemic and/or hemorrhagic stroke, brain tumor, spinal tumor, traumatically induced subarachnoid hemorrhage, aneurysm, neurotrauma throughout the endovascular continuum working in collaboration with a licensed physician member of the medical staff of OSUMC; provides care during acute and chronic phases of illness; educates and counsels patients and their families; engages in health promotion and prevention; refers patients to other health care providers and community resources when appropriate.

Education and experience

Masters Degree in Nursing required; current license and certificate of authority to practice as a Nurse Practitioner from the State of Ohio Board of Nursing required; must be a graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program that qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification examination of a national certifying organization recognized by the Ohio Board of Nursing; experience in the field of neurological disorders particularly in the area of neurovascular medical care preferred.
