Position summary

Staff Nurse-B (Job Opening 441558) - Scope of Position The Wexner Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive. The Patient Care Coordinator-Registered Nurse (PCC-RN) functions as an integral member of the perioperative care team within the Department of Perioperative Services, whose members reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team consisting of Patient Care Coordinator-Registered Nurse (PCC-RN0, the Patient Care Associate (PCA), the Information Associate, the Student Nursing Assistant (SNA), provides patient care and supportive services that are directed toward achievement of quality patient care outcomes, improvement of service levels, reduction of length of hospitalization, and reduction of costs. The Extended Recovery Unit provides phase II and phase III postoperative care to surgical patients requiring a hospital stay of less than 24 hours. This unit is staffed from 7:00am Monday until 7:30pm Saturday. Position Summary The Patient Care Coordinator-Registered Nurse (PCC-RN) is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising the other members of the patient care team. They are responsible for assessing, prescribing, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients. The (PCC-RN) prioritizes patient care needs and provides the leadership and development of the patient care team based upon use of the competent knowledge, psychomotor skills, critical thinking and interpersonal relations skills. Overall skills include, but are not limited to, cardiac and neurological monitoring, IV fluid and drug management, wound management, pain management, and tube and drain management.

Education and experience

Graduate from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing) accredited nursing program required; current licensure or interim permit in the practice of registered nursing from the State of Ohio Board of Nursing required; previous experience in a relevant care setting preferred; Bachelor?s Degree in Nursing preferred.
