Assistant Nurse Manager (Job Opening 441581) - Scope of Position The Ohio State University Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive. The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for assisting the OR Manager in the operational functions of the Perioperative Services Department. The Assistant Nurse Manager ensures that all patient and staff related objectives are met. The Assistant Nurse Manager facilitates the provision of comprehensive and individualized nursing care through effective utilization of the unique abilities and preparation of each staff member. This includes but is not limited to managing, guiding, coaching, counseling and evaluating the work performance of nursing staff as delegated by the Nurse Manager. Position Summary The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for assisting the OR Manager in the overall planning, directing and evaluating the activities of the perioperative staff. In the absence of the Nurse Manager, the Assistant Nurse Manager assumes total responsibility on a twenty-four hour basis. The Assistant Manager works with the Perioperative Director, Assistant Directors, Support Service Managers; Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, Office Associate, centralized scheduling staff and the Administrative Assistant evaluating the flow of patient care in the Perioperative areas, trouble-shooting areas of the unit which need improvement and implementing changes. The Assistant Manager works with the Nurse Educator for Periop. Services, to coordinate staff orientation and education. The Assistant Nurse Manger also provides direct patient care when needed.

Education and experience

Bachelor?s Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing) accredited nursing program required; current license as a registered nurse from the State of Ohio Board of Nursing required. Three years of nursing experience required.
