Nurse Manager (Job Opening 444325) - SCOPE OF POSITION  Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University and OSU Harding Hospital are committed to enhancing the quality of care that our patients receive. The OSU Harding Patient Care Services division serves the adult, child/adolescent, geriatric and the psychiatric emergency patient population in the central Ohio community. Services are provided seven days a week on a 24-hour basis. The Nurse Manager- Clinical Excellence is responsible for the development and implementation of programs related to staff orientation, competency, quality trending and performance, regulatory readiness and Magnet designation. The Nurse Manager- Clinical Excellence has dual accountability for both patient care and program operations. This role is a vital management position through which patient related and organizational objectives are operationalized.  The Nurse Manager- Clinical Excellence is authorized to intervene in problems and make necessary decisions to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and effective interdisciplinary services within the organization.  POSITION SUMMARY  The Nurse Manager- Clinical Excellence is responsible for the overall planning, organization, direction, supervision, and evaluation of core clinical competencies for psychiatric programs on a 24-hour basis. This is accomplished by the first line direction of patient care activities and the day-to-day coordination with all other staff that relates directly or indirectly to patient care services. The Nurse Manager- Clinical Excellence facilitates the staff in providing comprehensive and individualized care through effective utilization of the unique abilities and preparation for each staff member.  This includes educating, guiding, coaching, supervising and evaluating the competencies of staff, including nursing, and support staff assigned to the unit based team.

Education and experience

Current Ohio R.N. license, Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required. Masters degree in Nursing or related field is desired. Previous four years of nursing experience in psychiatric nursing experience preferred. ANCC certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing preferred. Prior demonstration of leadership and management skills.
