Staff Nurse-B (Job Opening 444493) - Scope of Position The Ross Heart Hospital is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. The Patient Care Coordinator-Registered Nurse functions as an integral member of a team of care providers on a patient Care unit, who reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team, consisting of the Patient Care Coordinator-Registered Nurse (PCC-RN), Surgical Technologist, Perioperative Technician and Clerical Specialists provide patient care and supportive services that are directed toward achievement of patient care outcome, serve as patient advocate, improving services levels, reducing the length of hospitalization and decreasing costs. Patients and their family will experience the benefit of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members. The operating rooms, are located on the fourth floor of the Ross Heart Hospital. The operating room is staffed 24 hours per day for primarily adult patients requiring surgical intervention. Care is provided by Registered Nurses and Surgical Technologists. A Registered Nurse is directly responsible for the care of each patient in the operating room and is the circulator for each surgical procedure. Position Summary The Patient Care Coordinator-registered Nurse (PCC-RN) is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising the other members of the patient care team. They are responsible for assessing, prescribing, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients. The Perioperative PCC-RN delivers care within the scope of the nursing process as reflected in AORN Standards and Recommended Practices and Perioperative Nursing Service Policies and Procedures. The PCC-RN prioritizes patient care needs and provides the leadership and development of the patient care team. Nursing care is delivered in a manner that is cost effective without compromising patient care. The staff nurse must be competent in technical, interpersonal and cognitive skills required to serve the patient population defined by the scope of service. The Perioperative PCC-RN plans, designs, implements and evaluates systems to improve the quality of perioperative nursing care for the surgical patient. The Perioperative PCC-RN assists the Management Team in the clinical evaluation of professional and paraprofessional perioperative nursing staff. The Perioperative PCC-RN participates in departmental quality assessment and improvement activities, meets hospital continuing education and certification requirements, participates in student teaching activities, upholds Nursing Services philosophy and objectives, contributes to organizational effectiveness, participates in professional nursing organizations and demonstrates professional growth and development. The Perioperative PCC-RN works rotating shifts as assigned by the Management Team. Call is assigned on a rotating basis.

Education and experience

Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing. Current Ohio Licensure as a registered Nurse. Previous experience in a relevant care setting preferred.
