Position summary

Infection Preventionist (Job Opening 452770) - The Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for the daily management of infection prevention and control activities in ambulatory environment and other areas as needed or requested. These responsibilities include: 1) Surveillance; collecting, preparing, analyzing and presenting HAI data and making recommendations for improvement, 2) Monitoring staff for compliance with The Department of Clinical Epidemiology policies, The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, CMS, federal, state and local regulations, professional guidelines/practice standards and provides coaching when indicated, 3) Evaluating the environment; identifying and resolving potential reservoirs or sources of infection, 4) Serving as a resource to all personnel; providing professional infection prevention education to patients, visitors, staff and groups as needed or requested, 5) Responding to outbreaks, exposures or influx of infectious patients and taking steps to prevent further spread of disease.

Education and experience

-Bachelora??s degree in a health related field required or equivalent education and experience. -Knowledge of principles of epidemiology infection control, infectious diseases and microbiology required. -Experience in hospital infection control preferred. -Certification as infection control practitioner preferred. -Registered nurse preferred. At least two years of clinical experience in a hospital setting preferred. -Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and facilitation skills -Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete projects.
