Position summary

Associate Professor (Job Opening 440624) - Associate Professor to serve as Principal Investigator (PI) on sponsored research grants; plans designs and develops original research proposals as PI; develops, writes and submits grants to extramural funding agencies to obtain funds to support independent research program and to obtain a significant amount of salary support; tracks grant submission to national and local agencies to ensure proper review procedures; devises, plans and conducts experiments; prepares and writes manuscripts, articles, abstracts, research reports and conference papers for publication and presentation; attends and presents at local, national and international scientific conferences; collaborates with other researchers; manages research lab; supervises research personnel; directs undergraduate research; initiates new ideas and applies newer technologies for state of the art research; tracks manuscripts through all states of review process to ensure timely publications, revises manuscripts following review, proofreads galleys for accuracy of publication; participates in regular research personnel meetings and interacts with research team members in disseminating crucial information and troubleshooting experimental protocols. Designs, develops, and executes cancer genome characterization studies involving microRNAs, high-density SNP array, gene expression profiling, and sequencing/cancer gene mutation detection methods. Participates in developing strategies for cancer genome analysis using new technologies; works collaboratively with MVIMG project team and outside collaborators, including Hematology to process and analyze genomic information from tumor samples; track workflow and samples for specific projects across various technology platforms; and perform background research, data analysis, biological interpretation, and writing for multiple purposes and design and execute specific follow-up analysis.
