Position summary

Professor & Division Director (Job Opening 444481) - Serves as Director of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine; provides patient care; teaches medical students, residents and fellows in the subspecialty of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine; embarks on a program of research; provides academic leadership; establishes, in association with faculty members, divisional directions, goals and programs; provides fiscal and administrative management; articulates a vision for the success of the division; constructs opportunities for the faculty to become recognized experts in their chosen sub-specialty; facilitates interdisciplinary collaborations and promotes research collaboration; ensures maintenance of a vital consultative service for inpatients as well as providing general care for patients seeking care; establishes a balance between a sufficient work force and time for faculty development; works with the divisional educators within the program to insure the highest quality of post-doctoral education; establishes an educational strategy that prepares graduates for careers in both academic medicine as well as the clinical practice of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine; encourages faculty to participate in national and international meetings to increase the visibility of the Division; carries out substantial responsibilities for recruiting new faculty, faculty development, building new referral patterns, and improving access; seeks faculty recruits with research expertise in basic, translational, or clinical research areas; works with the Department of Internal Medicine leadership as well as leadership within OSU?s Areas of Concentration (e.g., Cancer, Transplant, Heart).

Education and experience

MD or equivalent degree required; Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary/Critical Care required; eligibility for Ohio medical licensure required; prior research experience desired. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
