Position summary

Business Systems Analyst (Job Opening 434940) - Scope of Position
The Medical Information Management Department is responsible for maintenance, availability and integrity of patient information to support patient care, teaching, research and administrative needs of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. This position is responsible for supporting projects related to planning and implementation of the electronic health record. The medical information analyst analyzes, formulates recommendations, organizes and implements efficient processes related to new system implementations and upgrades.

Position Summary
This position provides technical direction and leadership in the implementation of the EHR by coordinating with clinical and user staff the planning, designing, validation and implementation of the electronic health record across the health system. The analyst serves as lead for implementation of EHR and coordinates activities related to conversion from paper or hybrid based recordkeeping to an electronic data capture environment. The analyst serves as an internal consultant by directing conversion activities related to record processing, release of information, staffing, data analysis and completion activities, transcription, electronic signature, file services activities, coding and data quality activities, scanning, data integration and back loading of data/key elements. The analyst develops workflow tools for electronic health record integration, develops policies and procedures for clinical and user staff in coordination with medical information management activities and recommends documentation capture processing to maximize efficiencies of new system implementation.

Education and experience

Bachelor's degree in Health Information Administration or equivalent required. Master's degree in Business Administration, Computer and Information Science or Public Administration preferred. Considerable progressively responsible administrative medical information management experience required. Knowledge and experience with electronic health record and health information management applications preferred.
