Position summary

Manager-Server Engineering (Job Opening 438016) - Scope of Position Responsible for managing the IT people, processes, and tools that support the X86 server systems, email messaging platform, server virtualization, and application virtualization environments for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC). Position Summary Serves as the area leader in the planning, design, development, and support for Windows server and core x86 applications services. Manages teams responsible for the engineering, build, installation/configuration, operation, maintenance, and support of the OSUWMC?s x86 server platforms to ensure levels of stability, reliability and acceptable performance. This is a technical leadership position with required skill sets to manage architects, engineers, and administrators for X86 Server, email messaging, server virtualization, application virtualization, monitoring, enterprise directory, design, administration, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting and support. Coordinates major initiatives, including multiple departments, service lines, platforms, and various administrative interfaces regarding server and data center technology with overall business/healthcare solutions. Manages projects involving high business risk, scope and impact to the organization; leads and facilitates strategic projects and is involved in evaluating and researching new and existing products, procedures, workflows and needs associated with server environments. Individual serves as a subject matter expert and manager for server and virtualization strategies, procedures, policies, and methodologies. Individual provides direction and insight to leaders, peers and team members regarding the identification and alignment of strategic servers and data center requirements with evolving information technology/business opportunities. Recognized across the organization for expertise and sought as a source for resolution of unique or the most complex systems problems.

Education and experience

-College degree in Computer Sciences or related field, and 7 years experience in IT Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. -Fundamental knowledge of general IT technologies and tools is required. -Strong skills in management for people and technology, team building, and communications are required. -High energy level and ability to quickly discern customers business needs. -Strong knowledge of server Hardware/Software, Microsoft Windows server operating systems, Microsoft messaging, VMware server platforms, AD, and Microsoft printing environments. -Certifications in one or more of the following are preferred: Six Sigma/LEAN.
