Position summary

Medical Simulation Specialist (Job Opening 440395) - Functions as a Medical Simulation Specialist in the Surgical Skills Lab within the Sports Medicine Institute; develops and oversees all aspects of creating and implementing practical courses using cadavers; collaborates with faculty to design curriculum to meet learning objectives and to ensure the goals and objectives of educational sessions are integrated into lab resources to provide an effective learning environment; facilitates trainee practice of surgical skills and oversees use of lab by faculty, staff and trainees; develops and implements new skill and procedure training opportunities; performs periodic evaluation of lab technology and identifies equipment in need of repair or replacement; supports and participates in the educational research mission of lab; participates in development of research proposals and assists with identification and procurement of funding sources; supports and participates in the pursuit and maintenance of accreditations for the center by contributing to applications and participating in site visits. Work hours can vary to include some early morning, evening and weekend events.

Education and experience

Bachelors Degree in a relevant health care field or equivalent combination of education and experience required; considerable experience in a clinical health care capacity required; experience handling, transporting and preparing cadaveric tissue preferred; experience with administration of and teaching in clinical education programs preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
