Position summary

Building HVAC Systems Manager (Job Opening 440475) - Scope of Position: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients.  The Building HVAC Systems unit maintains multi-vendor networked building  automation systems (BAS); creates, reviews and revises control algorithms and programs that assess and resolve BAS and controls issues; builds and edits graphics pages and links to field points; ensures BAS controls operate building systems within compliance guidelines; ensures network continuity between diverse BAS networks and sites; manages and/or participates in the equipment commissioning process; develops and monitors energy saving processes; analyzes historical BAS  data and implements changes to optimize HVAC system operations and energy consumption throughout the health system; and recommends and executes BAS capital infrastructure improvements.  Systems and equipment are operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  This position is subject to callback.  Position Summary: Under the general direction of the director of engineering and compliance, manages the Building HVAC Systems units staffing and operations activities, fiscal budgets, and reliability and efficiency of building automation and controls systems and equipment; mentors and trains staff (e.g., skilled trades, managers) on BAS functionality; provides direction on strategies, projects, procedures, policies and methodologies to ensure patient, visitor and staff safety; and integrates building automation systems with the overall mission of the Wexner Medical Center.   Contributes to the strategic vision and serves as the top-level technical contributor in the planning, development, implementation, functionality and evaluation of building automation systems that support, enhance and ensure effective, safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations of mechanical systems and equipment and building controls for the Wexner Medical Center.

Education and experience

For Hire: An Associate degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer information science or related field of study or equivalent combination of education and related experience with seven years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and testing HVAC control systems and related equipment OR- a bachelor degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer information science or related field of study with five years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, installing and testing HVAC control systems and related equipment; in-depth knowledge of BACnet systems to include complex building HVAC system applications and engineering,  LANs commands/configurations, alarming, scheduling, proprietary interfaces, integration
