Position summary

Sr. Apps Development Analyst (Job Opening 441103) - Scope of Position Responsible for the development of innovative solutions to help facilitate the installation and maintenance of the electronic health record. Investigates and develops processes to improve operational work flows, data analysis, education, and productivity. Identifies areas for process improvement in the management and collection of charges (procedures and supplies) through the IHIS electronic documentation system. Serves as the department liaison with Information Technology and Clinical personnel working on the electronic health record to facilitate facility charge capture for the medical center. Participates in all upgrade and enhancements applied to the IHIS system to be an advocate for Revenue Management and charge capture. Position Summary Serves as the primary contributor in the analysis and validation of system requirements to existing business processes and information systems to ensure desirability, practicality, and resource availability and capability. Performs system design, development, file maintenance, testing, evaluation and implementation of complex programs and/or modifications of charge-related aspects for the electronic health record. Responsible for determination, fault diagnosis, isolation and resolution of application or end-user specific utilization problems and errors. Develops procedures/techniques that ensure and monitor optimal performance is constantly maintained. Leads and facilitates strategic projects involved in system upgrades/enhancements, procedures and/or workflow needs associated with charge-related aspects for the electronic health record. Assists in training needs for customer personnel in the use of application through the development of training programs and procedures.

Education and experience

A college degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically has 4-8 years experience in Information Technology (preferably experience in Applications Development) Registered as an Accredited Health Information Technician (RHIT), or registered as an Accredited Health Information Administer (RHIA) by the American Health Information Management Association, or equivalent education and experience. Minimum two years coding experience preferred primarily in Ambulatory Surgery or Outpatient Coding. Working experience in project management (gather information, work with third parties, interact with appropriate hospital departments, attend meetings, summarize findings, meeting goals and timelines for project completion). Database/software proficiency required: Excel - formulas, graphs/charts. Access or Business Objects- query, database development, relational databases, data integrity, and report generation. Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid Billing Policies and Compliance Issues and various coding systems (i.e. CPT4, HCPCS, Revenue Codes, ICD-9, APC Classifications, MS-DRG, etc.) Knowledge of financial/general ledger processes and general accounting principles and practices, as well as hospital patient accounting practices preferred. Understanding of financial management and reporting in health care, and an overall operational knowledge of how those functions and activities of hospitals and medical clinics impact reporting.
