Position summary

Server Engineer (Job Opening 444276) - Responsible for the engineering, build, installation / configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure running in the Window Server environment. Responsible for Windows Server operating systems and hardware administration at OSUMC including provisioning, monitoring, tuning, capacity planning, security, troubleshooting, support and maintenance. Responsible for the evaluation, development and implementation of operating system enhancements to improve the reliability, scalability, sustainability, and availability of the server environment. Performs complex software installations and upgrades to server operating systems and layered software packages. Plan and schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitor and tune server operating systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensure recoverability by implementing and monitoring a schedule of system backups. Responsible for Window Server systems projects that range from medium to large in scope, risk and impact. Leads and facilitates strategic projects involved in evaluating and researching new and existing products, procedures and/or workflows needs associated with Window Server operating systems for the Medical Center. Researches current and developing technologies to provide technical guidance pertaining to the capabilities, limitations and requirements of Window Server systems.

Education and experience

Degree in Computer Science or related field, and or at least 5 years equivalent experience in a technology related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills; working knowledge of server hardware; extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and technologies.
